Time Shifting

I finished time shifting by stephan rechtschaffen. I have a new definition of "finished" as applied to a book. it means "I've gotten all I am going to from this tome." I enjoyed time shifting but I found that I was getting less and less as I went along. I became impatient with a book whose subject was "slowing down." trouble was that this was a compendium of thich nhat hahn, ram dass, jon kabat-zinn, george leonard, and other familiar names.

two big messages in this: (1) be here now. now is stress-free. now is mindfulness. meditate, breathe, live your life. (2) we each have a natural rhythm. to operate smoothly, we entrain with the rhythm of other people or processes. my rhythm is not measured in megahertz.

being here now slows perceived time down: picture the slow-mo feel just before an accident. think of the slow passage of time for the child living entirely in the now. it's vital to consciously take charge of one's internal metronome.
